Frequently asked questions
How thick should new asphalt be?
Residential driveways typically use 2 to 3 inches of compacted asphalt over 4 to 6 inches of stone. Commercial lots with truck traffic need more of both — we spec it after seeing the site.
Can you pave over an existing surface?
Sometimes. If the base is sound and elevations allow, an overlay works well. If the base has failed, an overlay just hides the problem.
